The post works alongside the Chef and the food and beverage service staff at The Ritz-Carlton Amman. Food logs, quality checks and guest service needs are part of the day, not only the cooking.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and cooks food, including cold items, to recipes, quality and presentation standards and the preparation checklist, covering portions, arrangement and garnish
• Makes special meals or substitute items when they are needed
• Regulates the temperature of ovens, broilers, grills and roasters, and moves frozen food to the refrigerator to thaw
• Monitors the quality and quantity of prepared food and maintains food logs
• Tells the Chef about excess items that could go into daily specials, and tells food and beverage service staff about menu specials and out-of-stock items
• Speaks up when extra help is needed during busy periods
• Assists management with hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, disciplining and coaching employees, while setting an example
• Anticipates and addresses guests’ service needs

Requirements

• Compliance with company, safety and security policies, including completing safety training and certifications
• Reports of maintenance needs, accidents, injuries and unsafe work conditions to the manager
• Clean, professional uniform and personal appearance
• Clear and professional language, with positive working relationships and support for the team
• Confidentiality of proprietary information and protection of company assets
• Ability to stand, sit or walk for an extended time, and to reach overhead and below the knees with bending, twisting, pulling and stooping
• Ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull and place objects weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance
• Willingness to take on other reasonable duties requested by supervisors

Preferred qualifications

• Technical, trade or vocational school degree
• At least 3 years of related work experience
• Supervisory experience is not part of the preferred profile
