The supervisor checks the housekeepers’ work, keeps room status current and helps management run the day.

Responsibilities

• Inspects guest rooms, public areas and the pool once housekeepers have cleaned them, checking them against quality standards
• Reviews sold room reports, confirms room status and sets cleaning priorities, including rooms with discrepancies and rooms of departing guests
• Coordinates Housekeeping with Engineering, Front Office and Laundry, and settles room discrepancies with the front desk
• Prepares and communicates room assignment changes, passes open issues to the next shift and completes the required paperwork
• Takes part in staffing decisions with management: hiring, training, rostering, appraisals and coaching
• Welcomes guests, addresses their service needs, and reports maintenance faults, hazards and any accident or injury

Requirements

• Able to lift and carry objects up to 55 pounds unaided, and heavier ones with help
• Able to push or pull a laden housekeeping cart on slopes and uneven floors
• Able to spend a full shift standing, sitting, kneeling or walking, with reaching, bending, twisting and stooping
• Fine motor skills and coordination for handling items of different sizes and weights
• Comfortable entering and finding information on computers or point of sale systems, and reading small print
• Clear, professional spoken communication
• Clean, professional uniform and grooming

Preferred qualifications

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
• At least 1 year of related work experience
• At least 1 year of supervisory experience
