Responsibilities
- Supervises daily restaurant operations, works the floor with servers and hosts at peak meal times and covers for absent employees when needed
- Keeps service, food-handling and sanitation standards across the restaurant, bar/lounge and room service areas, in line with liquor control policies and local alcohol service laws
- Checks that the ambiance, menus and guest touch points stay in good condition, and runs daily taste panels to build product knowledge and set sales goals
- Controls purchasing and inventory by negotiating prices and contracts, building preferred supplier lists and reviewing usage reports, and oversees the payment of invoices
- Surveys restaurant demand and local competitors, and applies revenue management to bring in the right business at the right time
- Oversees the restaurant marketing plan with the hotel and brand marketing teams, handles the outlet’s social media and serves as the main contact for restaurant events
- Takes part in hiring, then sets performance standards, trains and coaches the team and manages staffing levels
- Handles guest feedback and complaints, and runs the shift when the Assistant Restaurant Manager is away
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED combined with 4 years of experience in food and beverage, culinary or a related professional area
- Alternatively, a 2-year degree from an accredited university in Food Service Management, Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration or a related major, together with 2 years of experience in the same areas
