The mechanic works under the shift engineer and covers preventive as well as corrective maintenance for the hotel’s facilities, guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house areas and mechanical equipment. Several building trades fall within that scope, so the post is wider than a single specialty.

Responsibilities

• Handles guest maintenance requests promptly, keeping disruption to the guest experience to a minimum
• Troubleshoots and repairs plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry and painting issues, along with other general maintenance as assigned
• Maintains pumps, valves, fixtures and the water systems they serve
• Inspects equipment, machinery and building systems on a regular basis and rectifies problems before they grow

Requirements

• Experience as a general mechanic, maintenance technician or similar, in a five-star hotel, a luxury hospitality setting or a commercial building
• Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, carpentry, painting and general maintenance
• Experience with preventive maintenance programs and with troubleshooting building systems
• Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults
• Good command of English
