The engineer supports the deployment, management and upkeep of the organization’s AWS and on-premises IT infrastructure, with availability, resource provisioning, health monitoring and routine issue resolution at the center. The post is also framed as a way to build deeper specialist skills in IT operations and cloud architecture.

Responsibilities

• Helps provision, configure and run core AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, IAM) while senior engineers provide guidance
• Tracks cloud resource usage, application performance and infrastructure health in AWS CloudWatch plus the internal monitoring tools, aiming for high availability
• Handles daily administration and troubleshooting of the on-premises estate: virtual machines, physical servers and simple network setups
• Applies security best practices through IAM permission management and security group configuration, and assists with routine patching and updates
• Automates recurring operational chores and routine deployments with simple Python, Bash or PowerShell scripts
• Works Level 1 and Level 2 tickets covering infrastructure and cloud issues, and escalates complex ones to senior team members
• Writes and keeps current the documentation for infrastructure configurations, SOPs and operational runbooks
• Takes on other related tasks on request

Requirements

• Hands-on time in the AWS console, which entry-level candidates can show through internships, academic capstones or personal portfolio labs
• A record of fixing problems on Linux and Windows servers, with basic command-line skills in Linux (such as Ubuntu and Amazon Linux) and administration knowledge of Windows Server
• Some exposure to basic networking work and troubleshooting, with an understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs and basic subnetting
• Grounding in AWS compute, storage, database and networking services
• Able to read and write simple Python, Bash or PowerShell scripts
• Strong analytical problem-solving, high attention to detail and a keen willingness to learn
• Ability to explain technical issues clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders alike

Preferred qualifications

• AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate or AWS Certified SysOps Administrator – Associate (highly preferred)
• CompTIA Network+, Security+ or basic ITIL (nice to have)
• Introductory or conceptual knowledge of IaC tools such as Terraform or AWS CloudFormation (a strong advantage)
