Café Kira is described as a more casual, everyday version of KIRA, serving café dining, pastries, drinks and evening dining in a Jumeirah neighbourhood setting. The officer works with the culinary, stewarding and purchasing teams, and answers day to day to the Executive Chef and the Stewarding Supervisor in matters of kitchen workflow. Cost control is part of the brief too, through less wastage, fewer breakages and lower use of supplies.

Responsibilities

• Supervises the daily work of kitchen porters, stewards and cleaners
• Keeps kitchen and storage areas clean, safe and organized, and supports the flow of goods between storage, preparation and service
• Inspects kitchen and back areas regularly against food hygiene and sanitation standards, including HACCP and municipality regulations
• Maintains BOH records such as cleaning schedules, pest control and sanitation checklists, temperature logs and maintenance reports
• Monitors kitchen equipment, utensils and cleaning tools, and reports repair needs to the Engineering Department
• Works with the Store and Purchasing teams on stock of cleaning supplies and kitchen consumables, and helps receive deliveries and rotate them under the FIFO system
• Coordinates equipment and utensil needs for banquet and outlet operations
• Joins regular BOH meetings to share operational updates and points for improvement

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of HACCP, food safety standards and BOH best practice
• Good command of English, spoken and written
• Proficiency in MS Office
• Organizational and leadership skills, with attention to detail
• Ability to work under pressure and support several outlets at the same time

Preferred qualifications

• Knowledge of hotel management systems
• Additional languages
