Operational Risk Analyst

About the operational risk analyst job in United Arab Emirates

The analyst helps Business Banking spot, assess, monitor and reduce operational risk. The work splits into three strands: maintaining the risk framework and governance, reporting on risk, and reviewing business processes and customer journeys for exposures and improvements.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining the operational risk frameworks, tools and processes used across Business Banking
• Facilitating Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSA) and testing controls to find gaps in processes, systems, compliance and training
• Monitoring Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) and escalating emerging risks and trends
• Managing operational risk incidents through investigation, tracking and resolution
• Coordinating Risk Acceptance submissions, approvals and renewals with stakeholders
• Preparing risk dashboards, management reports and governance updates that track risk themes and remediation actions
• Recommending practical measures where controls are weak, with insights that help management prioritize
• Reviewing end-to-end processes and customer journeys, documenting them and supporting improvements and re-engineering
• Leading root cause analysis of operational issues and customer complaints
• Assessing process changes, new products and customer communications from a risk and control angle

Requirements

• Exposure to operational risk management, business controls, business analysis, operations, governance or project management
• Understanding of First Line of Defence (1LOD) risk management practices
• Analytical, problem-solving and critical thinking ability
• Capacity to work independently and juggle several priorities
• Communication and stakeholder management skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and banking systems

Preferred qualifications

• Experience with RCSA, control testing or risk assessments
• Knowledge of operational risk frameworks and governance practices
• Experience in process mapping, process improvement and root cause analysis
• Ability to interpret risk data and turn it into actionable management reporting
