Lifeguard

A Lifeguard is wanted at the Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar Resort in Ad Dakhiliyah Governorate, Oman, on behalf of Anantara Hotels & Resorts. Duty starts 15 minutes early with a check of the medical and rescue equipment, and once on watch the lifeguard may not look away from the area unless a supervisor says so.

Beyond watching the water, the post covers upkeep of the pool facility, record keeping and direct dealings with guests, all under a direct supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Watches the guarded area continuously, since a drowning or medical emergency can happen within seconds
• Arrives 15 minutes before duty to confirm that the medical and rescue equipment works properly and that personal equipment is ready
• Inspects the pool and deck areas daily and keeps them safe and clean, reporting maintenance problems to the head and other work issues to the direct supervisor
• Completes guest records and checklists as required, including the one for water temperature and chemical percentages
• Enforces the rules, regulations and policies of the aquatic facility
• Handles guest complaints and takes ownership of a guest’s request for help, even when it has nothing to do with lifeguarding
• Backs up the pool attendant whenever needed and carries out other duties the supervisor or management asks for
• Takes part in regular in-service training sessions

Requirements

• Ability to stay calm and act quickly and effectively in an emergency
• Strength and endurance, with fitness maintained throughout the job
