What the fashion buyer job in Doha involves

The business is a fashion e-commerce operation, and the buyer works with the sourcing and procurement team on specifications, samples, costs and delivery timing. Buying proposals go up for approval, and the role then tracks the approved items through purchasing, availability and launch.

Responsibilities

• Researches trends, customer demand and competitor ranges, spots category gaps and recommends brands, products, styles and colours
• Builds category and assortment plans covering brand mix, price points, core lines and new items to test
• Recommends opening and replenishment quantities by product, size and colour, drawing on sales, stock, incoming orders, lead times and budget
• Evaluates costs, proposes selling prices and target margins, and prepares buying proposals for approval
• Suggests complementary and higher-priced products to lift cross-selling, upselling and basket size
• Coordinates specifications, samples, costs, availability and delivery timing with the sourcing and procurement team
• Tracks sales, sell-through, margins, returns and stock ageing to recommend reorders, range changes and discontinuations
• Keeps product shortlists and buying plans current and follows approved selections through to launch

Requirements

• Hands-on background in buying and merchandising across fashion, footwear, handbags, accessories, jewellery or multi-brand retail
• Evidence of ranges or selections personally developed, with clear commercial results
• Sound fashion judgement and trend awareness, with a feel for what customers prefer
• Working experience with assortment planning, buying quantities, sales analysis, pricing and margins
• Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills, using sales and inventory data to drive buying decisions
• Strong organisation, supplier communication and independent follow-through
• Strong English communication skills
• Availability to join immediately

Preferred qualifications

• Knowledge of Qatar or GCC customer preferences
• Arabic
