Responsibilities

• Handles application incidents on digital platforms with customer support, Application Development and Platform Engineering, following the SLAs and escalation procedures already in place
• Operates and monitors the Elastic Observability stack (Elasticsearch cluster health, Kibana, Fleet Server, APM Server and Elastic Agent), which runs through ECK on OKE
• Assists with routine Elasticsearch upkeep, including ILM and SLM (index and snapshot lifecycle management), housekeeping across the hot, warm, cold and frozen data tiers, and capacity monitoring
• Tracks down telemetry ingestion problems across logs, metrics, traces and synthetic monitors, keeping data collection consistent on every platform
• Keeps alerting rules, saved objects and Kibana dashboards up to date, guided by the SRE Manager
• Performs root cause analysis, takes part in blameless post-incident reviews and reports on incident-management metrics, including MTTD (mean time to detect) and MTTR (mean time to resolve)
• Joins an on-call rotation and works with Platform Engineering to cut operational toil through Terraform, Helm charts and scripting, smoother deployment pipelines and wider observability coverage
• Records incidents, requests and resolutions in the ticketing system (Jira/ServiceNow), prioritizing them, and keeps runbooks, support documentation and knowledge base articles in line with the standard incident response procedures

Requirements

• Work history in SRE, DevOps, application support, system administration or IT operations
• Familiarity with observability tools, the Elastic Stack (Elasticsearch, Kibana and the like) in particular, with basic querying and the use of dashboards
• Experience with ITIL practices and ITSM tools such as ServiceNow, Jira and Zendesk, plus a strong grasp of change, problem and incident management
• Linux knowledge and scripting ability in Bash, Python or Go
• A grasp of the concepts behind monitoring, logging and alerting
• Basic experience of containers (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud-native setups
• Related fields are accepted, and equivalent experience can stand in for the degree
• Strong troubleshooting, communication and critical-thinking skills
