Responsibilities
- Builds relationships with buyers in the truck and heavy machinery sectors, works out what they need and recommends suitable machinery and equipment
- Follows customer inquiries and opportunities still in progress
- Visits clients and gives product demonstrations
- Writes up tender documents, technical proposals and quotations
- Negotiates deals and closes sales agreements
- Keeps customer records in the CRM and DMS systems
- Watches the market, competitors and customer feedback for business opportunities, and keeps up product knowledge: specifications, features and competitive advantages
- Reports to management with regular sales figures, forecasts and pipeline updates, and works toward assigned sales targets without letting service quality slip
Requirements
- Sales experience from the heavy machinery, truck or construction equipment industry
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Business Administration or any related field
- Experience preparing and managing government and private-sector tenders
- Strong communication, negotiation, presentation and relationship-building skills, plus customer service and problem-solving ability
- Self-motivated, organized and detail-oriented, and able to work independently
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, with experience using CRM and DMS systems
Preferred qualifications
- Previous experience with a reputable heavy equipment company
