Head of Primary

Leading the primary school at Etqan Global Academy (EGA) in Doha, Qatar, is the remit of the Head of Primary, a vacancy handled by Nord Anglia Education. EGA is a newly established IB World School offering the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP).

What the head of primary job in Doha involves

EGA is newly established and preparing for IB accreditation, so the post combines running the primary school with building up the PYP.

Responsibilities

• Leads the primary school strategically and operationally, in keeping with the IB PYP philosophy and EGA’s School Strategic Plan
• Oversees how the IB Primary Years Programme is implemented and developed over time
• Supports the primary teaching team through coaching, appraisal and CPD
• Drives school improvement by monitoring and evaluating, analysing data and planning collaboratively
• Manages assessment and reporting, and curriculum planning for the whole primary school
• Works with the PYP Coordinator to strengthen programme delivery and prepare for IB accreditation
• Builds a nurturing school community where students feel safe, valued and challenged, and keeps strong relationships with parents and the wider community
• Promotes student agency, inquiry-based learning and the IB learner profile

Requirements

• Deep knowledge of the IB Primary Years Programme and transdisciplinary pedagogy
• A proven record of raising student outcomes and leading school improvement
• Experience developing and coaching high-quality teaching teams
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills
• A strong commitment to safeguarding and child welfare

Preferred qualifications

• International school experience, ideally in the Middle East
