Responsibilities

• Operates and monitors washing, dry-cleaning and drying machines, adding chemicals and cleaning lint traps
• Sets dryers to the time and temperature that suit each load’s fabrics
• Checks items coming out of the machines for cleanliness, and decides whether stained or damaged pieces go for repair, spot treatment or a second wash, or are thrown out
• Clears lint and debris from dryer screens, dry-cleaning filters and drain traps after each load
• Folds clean items by hand or with a folding machine and places them in clean linen carts
• Keeps accurate records of laundered items
• Follows safety and security policies, reports accidents, injuries and unsafe conditions to the manager, and suggests ways to improve efficiency, quality, safety or costs

Requirements

• Able to move, lift, carry, push and pull objects up to 25 pounds without help
• Able to stand, sit or walk for long periods, including a full shift
• Able to move through narrow, confined or elevated spaces, and over sloping, uneven or slippery surfaces, stairs and service ramps
• Able to reach overhead and below the knees, with bending, twisting and stooping
• Visual checks of tools, equipment and machines to spot defects
• Clean, professional uniform and appearance, and completed safety training and certifications
