About the spa therapist/receptionist job in Doha
The therapist gives massages and body treatments, using scrubs, wraps and hydrotherapy. Before each service the therapist asks about contraindications such as allergies, high blood pressure and pregnancy, and checks in with the guest during the treatment. The listing also covers escorting guests to the treatment rooms, selling spa services and retail products, and keeping the workstation and tools clean and sterilized. The post carries no supervisory duties.
Responsibilities
- Giving massages, with props or products, and body treatments using scrubs, wraps or hydrotherapy
- Assessing guest needs and asking about contraindications before starting a service
- Escorting guests to and from treatment rooms, and setting up the workstation, room and drapes
- Checking in with guests during a service to keep them comfortable and safe
- Promoting and selling spa and salon services, including the spa’s retail products
- Cleaning, maintaining and sterilizing tools, and keeping the treatment area tidy, with linens and trash cleared and supplies secured at the end of each shift
- Keeping to the day’s time schedule
- Handling inappropriate guest behavior under Marriott International’s standard procedures, up to stopping a treatment and informing the supervisor or manager
- Keeping skills and licensure current as the region requires, and staying up to date with techniques in the field
- Reporting accidents, injuries and unsafe conditions to the manager, and completing safety training and certifications
Requirements
- State or regional massage license
- Moving, lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling objects of up to 10 pounds without help
- Standing, sitting or walking for long periods, with fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination
- Clear, professional communication and positive working relationships
- Clean, professional uniform and appearance, and confidentiality of proprietary information
Preferred qualifications
- Technical, trade or vocational school degree
- At least 1 year of related work experience
