The role is about reaching sales by category, in the short and the long term, while building lasting relationships with customers. Market intelligence goes up to sales management, and merchandisers do the in-store work that the associate manager tracks through their daily journey plans.
Responsibilities
- Owns the area’s sales growth targets by category, along with core distribution (listing of new SKUs), picture-of-success targets and the visibility and other terms set in the Business Development Agreement (BDA)
- Builds customer relationships and opens contract negotiations on visibility, shelf space, promotions and implementation
- Organizes daily field visits and store follow-ups to keep products available
- Keeps products on the shelf in line with core distribution and sees that the promotional plan is carried out in the stores of the assigned area
- Follows up merchandisers’ daily journey plans, resolves issues and gives feedback on stock handling and placement on shelves, checkouts, secondary placements and gondolas
- Reports market intelligence to sales management: sales analysis, monthly initiative implementation, competitor activity, launches, customer plans and shopper profiles
- Makes sure collection and financial reconciliation follow Nestlé’s payment terms
- Complies with the WHO International Code of Marketing of Breast-Milk Substitutes, Nestlé instructions and local codes, which means sales staff do not seek contact with, or advise, pregnant women or mothers of infants and young children on infant formula
Requirements
- Experience supervising retail routes and field teams
- Planning, communication, leadership and negotiation skills
- Analytical skills, including reading financial, inventory and retail data to pick suitable selling techniques
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and POS systems
- Experience with AI tools to automate processes
