Technical Supervisor

Heading the Amman technical office team of engineers and draftsmen on luxury hotel fit-out and FF&E projects, this post asks for 8+ years of experience, including 3+ in high-end interior fit-out.

Responsibilities

• Reviewing shop drawings, joinery details, material submittals and technical documents before issue, and checking that they follow design intent, specifications, consultant comments and company standards
• Leading the technical engineers and draftsmen, setting priorities and deadlines and allocating the daily workload
• Coordinating with project managers, site teams, consultants and suppliers by email, online meetings and document control platforms
• Tracking submittal, shop drawing and RFI logs, and reporting status, delays and risks to management
• Resolving technical queries and the interfaces between interior design, joinery, MEP and FF&E packages
• Reviewing quantity take-offs and giving technical input to the estimating and commercial teams
• Establishing office procedures, CAD standards, templates and filing structures
• Training and mentoring junior engineers and draftsmen, and reviewing their performance

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Architectural or Civil Engineering, or in Interior Architecture
• Minimum 8 years of experience in hotel or luxury interior fit-out, and at least 3 years leading a technical office team
• Strong knowledge of fit-out materials, joinery, finishes and construction details
• Proven experience in shop drawing review, submittal procedures and consultant approvals
• AutoCAD at expert level
• Excel, Word and Outlook, plus PDF mark-up tools such as Bluebeam
• Leadership and planning skills, with the ability to run several projects at once
• Excellent written and spoken English and Arabic

Preferred qualifications

• Revit or similar software
• Experience on projects in Saudi Arabia or the GCC

Technical Engineer

This post handles the technical paperwork of fit-out and FF&E projects, from submittals and shop drawing review through to quantities, RFIs and as-built records, and reports to the Technical Supervisor. The ad asks for 5+ years in a fit-out or FF&E technical office.

Responsibilities

• Reviewing tender and contract documents, drawings, specifications and BOQs to spot discrepancies, missing items and scope gaps
• Preparing and tracking material submittals, technical data sheets, samples and mock-up approvals with consultants and clients
• Coordinating shop drawing production with the draftsmen, checking accuracy, constructability and fit with the design intent
• Aligning architectural, interior design, MEP and FF&E drawings, and resolving clashes between them
• Raising and following up RFIs and technical queries, and answering consultant comments
• Taking off quantities to back procurement, estimating, interim payment applications and variations, and supplying the technical justification the commercial team needs when pricing variations
• Liaising with project teams, suppliers and subcontractors on technical requirements, samples, lead times and approvals
• Keeping document control logs for submittals, shop drawings, RFIs, transmittals and revisions, and preparing as-built drawings, O&M manuals and handover documents

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Architectural or Civil Engineering; Interior Architecture is also considered
• Minimum 5 years of technical office experience with a fit-out or hospitality contractor
• Proven experience in submittal procedures, shop drawing review and quantity take-off
• AutoCAD at proficient level
• Advanced Excel and Word, plus PDF mark-up tools such as Bluebeam
• Good written English and Arabic
• Organised approach and the ability to manage parallel deadlines

Preferred qualifications

• Working knowledge of FF&E procurement packages and joinery detailing
• Experience on 5-star hotel or hospitality projects in Saudi Arabia or the GCC
• Revit, Navisworks or similar software
• Familiarity with document control platforms such as Aconex

Draftsman

Reporting to the Technical Supervisor, the draftsman turns design intent into shop drawings and as-built drawings for interior fit-out, joinery and FF&E works, ready for site crews and factory production. The experience asked is 3+ years in interior fit-out shop drawings.

Responsibilities

• Producing interior fit-out shop drawings: layouts, reflected ceiling plans, wall elevations, flooring patterns, sections and details
• Detailing joinery and loose furniture for wall panelling, vanities, wardrobes, counters and doors, with materials, finishes and fixing details
• Building site survey dimensions into the drawings and coordinating with MEP services and other trades
• Updating drawings to consultant comments while keeping revision clouds, title blocks and revision logs current
• Preparing coordination, setting-out and as-built drawings
• Extracting quantities and schedules when the technical office asks for them
• Following company and consultant CAD standards for layers, scales and plotting
• Filing drawings in the project folders set by the document control system

Requirements

• Diploma in Architectural Drafting, Interior Design or a related field
• Minimum 3 years of fit-out shop drawing experience, with joinery detailing experience essential
• Good grasp of interior materials, construction details and drawing conventions
• AutoCAD at expert level, mandatory
• Basic MS Office and PDF mark-up tools
• Accuracy, neat presentation and the ability to meet submission deadlines
• Good working English

• Hospitality or hotel project experience
