The cashier works alongside the back-office team and the finance officer. Besides the cash work, the post answers customers’ questions on prices and services, passes information to the back office as needed and helps the finance officer coordinate with the bank and the insurance company.

Responsibilities

• Collects customer payments for cars, both new and trade-in, and for service and maintenance work
• Handles purchase and service payments made by petty cash, credit card or check, and submits the petty cash report to the back-office team for reimbursement
• Checks invoices for accuracy and makes sure each payment is recorded and accounted for
• Keeps records of every transaction and daily cash balance, and reconciles cash and card payments when the day closes
• Follows cash-handling procedures, from running a secure cash drawer and checking that coins and bills are genuine to storing records safely
• Safeguards company assets and keeps financial information confidential
• Holds the VCC of every vehicle in safe custody and releases gate passes once the account is cleared
