What the general accountant job in Salalah involves
The accountant coordinates with the warehouse and operations teams on inventory differences, and with other departments so that financial reporting stays accurate.
Responsibilities
- Records daily accounting transactions across journals, accounts payable, accounts receivable and the general ledger
- Prepares and maintains financial records, accounting schedules and supporting documents
- Reconciles bank, cash and other accounts regularly, and works with the warehouse and operations teams to trace inventory discrepancies
- Tracks customer and supplier balances and follows up on outstanding payments and receivables
- Reviews invoices and expenses for correct cost allocation and documentation
- Helps prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and management reports, and takes part in month-end and year-end closing
- Applies tax regulations, accounting standards and company financial policies, and supplies the records that internal and external audits need
- Investigates accounting variances and recommends improvements to accounting procedures
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, reconciliations and month-end closing
- Familiarity with tax regulations, VAT and statutory reporting requirements
Preferred qualifications
- Experience in retail, FMCG, perfume, cosmetics or trading companies
