Responsibilities

• Finds and assesses vendors at home and abroad for feed, veterinary inputs, seeds, fertilizers, equipment and related services, and sources the materials that new initiatives and ongoing operations need
• Issues requests for quotations and proposals, leads competitive bidding, and negotiates delivery schedules, payment terms, pricing and contracts for the best value, including yearly and half-yearly contracts for key materials
• Checks requisitions for accuracy and completeness, validates restocking against current inventory and forecasted demand, processes approved purchase orders under company policies and systems, and manages the whole ordering cycle for local and imported goods until open orders and contracts close
• Localizes imported materials by sourcing suppliers and validating Egyptian products for 2 to 3 materials, and builds a base of 2 to 3 suppliers per material to cut reliance on sole suppliers
• Anticipates disruptions with mitigation strategies and alternative sourcing plans, monitors resilience, traceability and sustainability across the livestock and agricultural supply base, and alerts stakeholders to market changes
• Leads cost-reduction initiatives and supports procurement strategies that lower total cost of ownership and improve supplier performance, working with finance and operations teams and following currency fluctuations and material trends to support pricing decisions
• Keeps procurement records, vendor files and price lists, posts costs to accounting or ERP systems, follows up with the payables team so supplier payments go through, and prepares regular reports on market pricing (monthly and seasonal), annual cost-saving initiatives and procurement performance metrics
• Coordinates quarterly supplier audit visits covering production capacity, compliance with company standards and quality controls, and makes sure suppliers meet delivery, quality and ethical standards while sharing insights and best practices with colleagues

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in business or any equivalent qualification
• Solid experience across all areas of the work described
