About the Salary Range Analyzer
Averages hide a lot. This tool takes the salaries you gathered from ads, colleagues or surveys for the same role and place, removes outliers if you wish, and shows the median and quartiles, the spread, and where your offer sits — with a suggested range to negotiate within.
When to use the Salary Range Analyzer?
When you want to know where your offer sits among the pay for similar jobs, and you have collected figures from postings or colleagues. The tool organizes scattered numbers in any format and gives you a simple statistical picture.
How to use the Salary Range Analyzer?
- Enter the job title and location.
- Paste at least 3 salaries (8 or more is better) for the same role and level.
- Add your offer to see where it sits.
- Press “Analyze the range”.
How to read the result
You get the median, the lower and upper quartiles, any outliers, and your offer's position on a bar showing where it falls in the range. The suggested negotiation zone is between the median and the upper quartile.
Tips for a better result
- Collect numbers from jobs that match in title, city and experience level, not from a general market.
- Collect more than eight figures if you can; a small sample weakens the result.
- Enter the numbers as you found them; the tool understands 10k and ranges.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Relying on one or two numbers.
- Mixing currencies, or monthly and yearly figures, in the same list.
- Relying on numbers from unknown sources or very old ones.
Note: The tool does not fetch salaries from the internet; the quality of the result depends on the quality of the numbers you collected.
Frequently asked questions
Where do I find salary numbers?
Job ads that state salaries, people in the same role, recruiters and published salary surveys. Keep levels and cities separate.
