About the Skills Generator
The tool identifies your field from your job title and suggests the skills employers usually look for, grouped into technical skills, tools and systems, soft skills and certificates. If you describe your tasks, it also extracts skills from your own words. Pick only what you can prove with an example.
When to use the Skills Generator?
When you are not sure how to name your skills, or worry about forgetting tools your field expects. It helps new graduates and people changing fields who want to know the terms used in the new jobs.
How to use the Skills Generator?
- Enter your job title.
- Optionally describe your daily tasks.
- Press “Suggest skills” and select the ones that are true for you.
- Copy the selected skills into your CV.
How to read the result
Skills appear in four groups: technical, tools, personal and certifications. Click each skill that applies to you to select it, then press the copy button and paste it into the skills section of your resume.
Tips for a better result
- Add a short description of your actual tasks so the suggestions are more precise than a job title alone.
- Select only what you can prove with an example, a project or a certificate, and leave the rest.
- Order your final list so what the target posting asks for comes first.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Copying every suggestion; a very long list weakens the important skills and invites questions about areas you do not know.
- Claiming an inflated level such as expert for a tool you used for two months.
- Listing only general personal skills with no tools or measurable technical skills.
Note: The suggestions are common in the field and are not an assessment of your skills; choose from them honestly.
